In the Kadifekale, region of Izmir, many slums were destroyed in the context of urban transformation between 2007 and 2013.
With the urban transformation which applied, the slums in Kadifekale were demolished and people who is living in this region was forced to move to new dwellings in Uzundere outside the city.
Uzundere TOKİ residences, where they are forced to settle, are now a mass housing area that the people of Kadifekale displaced cannot live.
